My name is Matt Schelter. In 2013, I graduated from Grand Valley State University with my Masters Degree in Social Work. Throughout my career in mental health, I have been dedicated to helping youth and families thrive together and build stronger, more resilient relationships. I have had the privilege of working with families in a variety of settings, including case management, home-based services, and school-based counseling. My passion lies in supporting children, teenagers, and families as they navigate challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues.
I take a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling, drawing on a range of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Theory, and family therapy. Additionally, I incorporate play and art therapy techniques into my practice, offering creative outlets for self-expression and healing.
Creating a safe, supportive environment is at the heart of my work. My goal is to foster personal growth, enhance self-awareness, and equip families with the coping skills they need to meet their goals and achieve lasting, positive change.
